Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
4-Week Virtual Groups
You don't have to go at it alone! And sometimes the environment of a group has additional benefits to working one-on-one.
In case you haven't gotten this info from my individual therapy page, let me give you a definition of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. "MBCT combines training in mindfulness meditation practices with principles from cognitive therapy. The heart of this work lies in becoming acquainted with the modes of mind that often characterize and contribute to mood disorders while simultaneously learning to develop a new relationship to them." -brown.edu MBCT can be very effective in treating stress responses and a variety of mental health disorders.
This is a skills-based group. Unlike a processing group, we focus on mindfulness (which primarily means "awareness") activities, and not deep-diving into group members' lives. It's a great way to be in community and feel supported without having to share a lot of personal information.
4-week groups are offered throughout the year. You can join a 4-week group more than once. Sometimes there will be specialized or themed groups available. Interest lists are always open, and current enrollment opportunities will be listed at the top of this page.
